The Bridegroom and His Bride

Jesus is our Bridegroom. We (the church) are His bride. Simple right? It seems simple and yet I didn't realize how much I took this for granted. Yes I know I am His bride, but have you ever thought about it like this...... Think about the husband and wife in the living room just sitting and reading....or just sitting and thinking. When the wife decides to go find something to do. "Where are you going?", her husband asks. "Going to find something to do", she replies. The husband would like her to stay where she is, if just so that he is near her, so that he can look over and find comfort in knowing that she is close by; just to see her beauty!
Think about a relative or friend, who has recently fallen in love. Silly aren't they? They stay in contact with the person they love. They can't wait to see the them. They long to be in the same room with them. It's like they can't even be away from that person for a few seconds before they have to contact the one they love.

It's amazing, but did you know that God's love for you is so much more than that love? We can't even begin to imagine it. Because guess what? We are "His" bride! He longs for us to stay in contact with Him all day, every day. He wants that! He yearns for that. Him! The Creator of the Universe! There are no words to describe God's love for us. But this example really made me realize why it is so important to pray unceasingly (not that I have accomplished that yet) just as God's Word says! A novel idea, right? But it honestly takes my breath away to think that God loves me so much that He wants me, the wretched sinner that I am, in His presence at all times.

  1. It takes my breath every time I think of it. It also makes me wanna go- "Ok, Husband, I'll sit."
