What Would Jesus Do?

What Would Jesus Do? Through the years this question has been used for all different sorts of things. For example: When I was younger we had a little stuffed bear. He had a red sweater and in white letters it said W.W.J.D. Everytime you pushed his hand he said," What would Jesus do"? I found this bear and this question quite annoying. Not that I didn't want to think about what Jesus would do, but after the little bear's batteries had been run out because of how many times my younger siblings had pushed his hand I was sick and tired of W.W.J.D. and the question What Would Jesus Do. Other examples of this question are bracelets, t-shirts, banners, and who knows what else. Probably a lot of christians today could agree with me in saying that the question takes on a new tone when it is worn out. To me when a question, statement, joke or anything really, gets worn out you don't really realize the meaning or the message. You only notice how annoying it is, or how sick you are of hearing it. I must confess that I had taken on the attitude of "I am so sick of that question". I wish they could come up with some thing else that doesn't make people say, do you know how many times I have heard that. I didn't like the question and I guess hadn't really thought about the meaning until recently. My pastor (also known as my daddy!) preached a sermon that had this question, What Would Jesus Do? For some reason when he said it or the way he phrased the question had me thinking....What an awesome question! I thought if only every time or for that matter all the time we thought what would Jesus do and actually did it...I think that life would be a little different. I think our country would be different. I think our world be different. Now I know what you are thinking..well that is obvious! I mean who wouldn't know that already. That is very true. You also might be thinking, well there is nothing we can do now...someone back who knows how long ago dropped the ball on thinking what would Jesus do. That is also true. But is it not also true that we, the children of God, are to be reflecting God's glory and light to others? That we are to be a light in darkness? That we, each one of us, is to have a personnel relationship with God? I think that if we did ask ourselves this question (as much as it may be over used for decorations and be a tad annoying) as often as we possibly can and actually did what Jesus would do....we could and would reflect God's glory and light. We would be a light in darkness. We would be able to have a personal relationship with God. Although to be able to discern what Jesus would do you already need to have a relationship with Him, but there is no limit to how close you can get to God. There is no limit to how often you are talking and walking with Him. There is no limit to how well you know him! That is a Great thing about your relationship with Him! You can never stop learning about him, but believe me you can go back....you can get less and less fellowhip with him and have less and less time with him. So this entry on my blog was just my thought of a question, that annoys me as much as anyone, but one that is an awesome, amazing, question! So I ask you, will you do what Jesus would do?

The Bridegroom and His Bride

Jesus is our Bridegroom. We (the church) are His bride. Simple right? It seems simple and yet I didn't realize how much I took this for granted. Yes I know I am His bride, but have you ever thought about it like this...... Think about the husband and wife in the living room just sitting and reading....or just sitting and thinking. When the wife decides to go find something to do. "Where are you going?", her husband asks. "Going to find something to do", she replies. The husband would like her to stay where she is, if just so that he is near her, so that he can look over and find comfort in knowing that she is close by; just to see her beauty!
Think about a relative or friend, who has recently fallen in love. Silly aren't they? They stay in contact with the person they love. They can't wait to see the them. They long to be in the same room with them. It's like they can't even be away from that person for a few seconds before they have to contact the one they love.

It's amazing, but did you know that God's love for you is so much more than that love? We can't even begin to imagine it. Because guess what? We are "His" bride! He longs for us to stay in contact with Him all day, every day. He wants that! He yearns for that. Him! The Creator of the Universe! There are no words to describe God's love for us. But this example really made me realize why it is so important to pray unceasingly (not that I have accomplished that yet) just as God's Word says! A novel idea, right? But it honestly takes my breath away to think that God loves me so much that He wants me, the wretched sinner that I am, in His presence at all times.
